What You Will Be Doing, as a Demolition Site Labourer:
- Pick up and carry broken concrete and brick pieces by hand or with tools after backhoe demolition.
- Load debris into wheelbarrows, bins, or haul trucks as directed by the site supervisor.
- Keep work areas clear and organized throughout the shift.
- Work safely around a backhoe and other heavy equipment, following all signals and hand signs.
- Follow all site safety rules, signs, and posted procedures at all times.
- Report any hazards, injuries, or unsafe conditions to the site supervisor immediately.
- Attend all required safety meetings and toolbox talks before and during your shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Should Have, as a Demolition Site Labourer:
- Ability to perform hard physical labour: lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs safely using proper technique.
- CSTS (Construction Safety Training System) certification — required.
- WHMIS certification — required.
- N95 Fit Testing — recommended (dust exposure on site).
- Able to take direction and work well within a team environment.
- Previous construction or demolition experience is an asset but not required.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
The following PPE is mandatory on site. Workers must arrive with or be prepared to obtain all listed items:
- CSA-approved, steel-toed safety boots — no exceptions.
- Safety glasses — must be worn at all times on site, not just when work is actively happening.
- Type 2 hard hat with integrated chin strap — must be worn and fastened at all times.
- High-visibility safety vest — required at all times on site.
- Level 5 cut-resistant gloves — required when handling concrete or brick debris.
In Return, You Will Receive:
- $20.00 per hour.
- 9.6% vacation pay — accrued and paid out when you need it.
- Paid weekly, every Friday.
- Opportunity for continued placement on active projects.
- Access to a Vertical Staffing Representative Monday to Friday, 8am to 11pm, and on weekends.
The Shift You Will Be Working Is:
- Monday to Friday (weekend work may be required depending on project timelines).
- Day shift — start times vary by site; confirmed at dispatch.
- Overtime available.
Where You Will Be Working, as a Demolition Site Labourer:
- Commercial/retail demolition sites across Calgary— site-specific address provided at dispatch.
- Outdoor worksite. Must be prepared to work in varying weather conditions.
- Access to a personal vehicle is strongly recommended; sites may not be accessible by transit.
