FREIGHT HANDLER (Part-Time, Temporary to Permanent)
About Our Client
Our client is a fast-growing cargo, logistics, and supply chain solutions provider operating near the Calgary International Airport. Specializing in streamlined cross-docking, freight forwarding, and distribution services, they pride themselves on maintaining an organized, high-efficiency, and safe work environment. They are looking for reliable and detail-oriented team players to join their afternoon operations!
What You Will Be Doing, as a Freight Handler:
- Loading and unloading freight from trailers, shipping containers, and delivery trucks.
- Sorting, labeling, and staging incoming and outgoing shipments based on destination routes.
- Safely operating manual/electric pallet jacks and other material handling equipment to move cargo.
- Inspecting incoming freight for damage and reporting any discrepancies to the shift supervisor.
- Verifying cargo counts and shipping documents to ensure order accuracy.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and cross-dock floor.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Should Have, as a Freight Handler:
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a warehouse, cross-dock, freight-handling, or physical labour role.
- Ability to comfortably lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for the duration of a 4-hour shift.
- Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accurate scanning, sorting, and routing.
- Strong verbal communication and collaborative teamwork skills.
- Able to follow verbal and written safety instructions and operational procedures.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
In Return, You Will Receive:
- Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
- Paid weekly, every Tuesday.
- Consistent part-time afternoon hours (great for work-life balance!).
- Genuine opportunity for permanent hire based on attendance and performance.
- 4% vacation pay – accrued and paid out when you need it.
- Dedicated access to a Vertical Representative Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM and on weekends.
The Shift You Will be Working is:
- Days: Monday to Friday (No weekends!)
- Hours: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM (4-hour shifts / 20 hours per week)
Where You Will Be Working, as a Freight Handler:
- Main Intersection: Barlow Trail NE & Airport Trail / Aero Way NE (Calgary, AB)
- Location details: This facility is located in Northeast Calgary near the airport. While the area is accessible by Calgary Transit (with bus stops located nearby along Aero Drive / Barlow Trail), having a reliable personal vehicle is highly recommended due to shift timing and transit schedules.
