Machine Operator – Temporary to Permanent

About Our Client

Located in Mississaugaour client is a large manufacturer of plastics & film. They are looking for experienced machine operators to add to their team. You may be working on an extrusion machine or press machine. This position is a rotating day/night shift – monthly continental (12 hour shifts). Please make sure you are experienced and comfortable with that schedule before applying. 

What You’ll Be Doing as a Machine Operator:
  • Selecting, cleaning, and installing the correct dies and tooling required for the specific product run. 
  • Calibrating machine controls for optimal temperature, pressure, ram speed, and vacuum settings based on material specifications.
  • Loading raw materials (e.g., aluminum billets or plastic resins) into hoppers or preheating ovens to prepare them for the pressing process
  • Selecting, cleaning, and installing the correct dies and tooling required for the specific product run. 
  • Calibrating machine controls for optimal temperature, pressure, ram speed, and vacuum settings based on material specifications. 
  • Loading raw materials (e.g., aluminum billets or plastic resins) into hoppers or preheating ovens to prepare them for the pressing process
  • Monitoring the machine throughout the production cycle to ensure material flows smoothly without blockages, tearing, or defects.
  • Making real-time adjustments to line speeds, cooling rates, or pressure controls to maintain product consistency and prevent downtime.
  • Coordinating with helpers or assistants to ensure a steady supply of billets/materials to keep the presses running at peak capacity.
  • Using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to inspect extruded shapes or pressed parts for proper thickness, diameter, and surface finish. 
  • Identifying and rectifying extrusion or press defects (e.g., warping, surface scratches, or inconsistent wall thicknesses). 
  • Documenting production counts, inspection results, downtime, and lot numbers for quality control tracking
  • Other duties as required
What You’ll Need to Succeed as a Machine Operator:
  • Minimum 2 yearof similar experience in a machine operator role – preferably extrusion/press. 
  • Very strong attention to detail and technical aptitude
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs & stand all day
  • Comfortable following verbal and written instructions in English
  • Must wear CSA-approved safety footwear – other PPE will be provided (eyes, ears & arms)
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Must have a willingness to learn and commitment to growth – permanent employment is very likely for those that show they want it!
 
Your schedule as a Machine Operator:
  • You will rotate between days and nights – monthly.
  • 4 days one week & 3 days next week etc. 
  • This will require weekends
  • Day shifts are: 7am to 7pm 
  • Night shifts are: 7pm to 7am
 
In Return, You Will Receive:
  • There are THREE levels – this is completely dependent on experience. Level 1: $18.00, Level 2: $19.00 per hour, Level 3: $20.00 per hour
  • 4% vacation pay (accrued and paid out upon request)
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Vertical Staffing Representative (Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm)
